Sometime after graduation, Dad drove from the west coast (from his Aunt’s house in LA?) to Tennessee. Who he traveled with — if anyone — is anyone’s guess. He never talked about the trip, and the only reason I know anything about it is the photos below: L.A., Vegas, San Francisco, and some racist-ass place with segregated water fountains (WTF?). It was also a year of weddings: Mom and Dad, and mom’s sister Liz and Uncle Joe. Uncle Bob, his first wife Mary, and cousin Cathy was still in Grandma and Grandpa’s (and our lives). There were also large holiday gatherings, with Grandma and Grandpa hosting their families at their house in Sunnyvale, where Mom and Dad also lived while working at Lockheed, where they met. At some point my Dad’s mom Grandma Dora and Grandpa Tom, Dad’s stepfather visited, and I suspect the photos here are either pre- or post-wedding. The family on our side has since shrunk down to nothing, but back then, it was still growing.
